Celebrate culture and Vancouver’s amazing community this weekend! Do It For The Culture is bringing the best voices of hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats and house music to Vancouver. Expect three nights celebrating BIPOC artists and culture at Fortune Sound Club, plus two days of music-industry wisdom at Beaumont Studios. Here’s how to do DI4TC properly.

THURSDAY: Discover Them Before They Blow Up

Thursday is for “I saw them before they blew up” moments. JUNO-nominated rapper ARDN leads the night with a smooth, genreless mix of hip-hop and R&B, while self-produced Afro-Indigenous artist Sekawnee brings the West Coast energy.


Adewolf brings the vibes with his team, SuperTribe, it will be an Afro-fusion dance party. Add in Terrance Richmond’s soulful charm and Simora’s dreamy alternative R&B, and your playlists are about to get a serious upgrade.

FRIDAY: Get In Your Feelings

Toronto’s RAAHiiM makes silky, emotionally charged R&B for late-night drives and questionable decisions. Divine Lightbody will take you on a journey with her silky vocals reminiscent of Aaliyah. Vancouver’s Mikey Jose delivers soulful vocal runs and storytelling and Ahsia keeps the vibe dreamy.


Award-winning Plains Cree rapper Drezus rounds out the night with sharp lyricism and an unapologetically Indigenous perspective. Feelings will be felt.

SATURDAY: Dance It Out

Calling all baddies! Toronto breakout SadBoi blends dancehall, R&B and hip-hop into baddie anthems made for dancing through your emotional damage.


Vancouver favourites Dacey bring woozy R&B and indie-pop, Tommyphyll supplies soulful “Afrodiem,” and 40K & Cameron James keep the party moving. Then the HUSH Music Party shows up to make standing still feel deeply incorrect. Saturday's ticket get's you into Fortune's after party featuring Maneesh on the Beat, who produces for Drake among many others, so you KNOW it's going to be fire!

LEARN HOW THE INDUSTRY ACTUALLY WORKS

Making good music is hard. Figuring out how to release, market, tour, fund and build an actual career around it? Somehow even harder.The DI4TC Conference brings Canadian music tastemakers to Beaumont Studios for panels, keynote interviews and honest conversations about building a sustainable career. AKA the answers you won’t get on TikTok.


Musicians can learn about management, marketing, sync, radio, labels, distribution and live music. Panels + Meetings ticket holders can also access up to five one-on-one meetings with industry professionals. Bring good questions and practise describing your sound without saying, “It’s kind of hard to explain.”
