Best Sushi in Vancouver

Thanks to the wonderful location of beautiful Vancouver, we have access to the finest seafood around town and have some of the finest Japanese restaurants on this side of the world . With more sushi joints than Starbucks locations, everyone has their favorite spot. So here are ours- from fine dining to hidden gems:

Ajisai Sushi Bar

2081 42nd Ave W, Vancouver, British Columbia

Ajisai is a bit of a hidden gem. You probably wouldn't think to visit Kerrisdale for authentic sushi but once you know about it, you will keep coming back. This little family-owned restaurant offers a large variety of fresh seafood as well as some other Japanese restaurant staples and it's likely the most affordable place to go to when you are craving the Real Deal. They are currently open for take-out only and there's a bit of a wait for the orders, but trust us when we say this- it's worth it!

Minami

1118 Mainland St, Vancouver, British Columbia

So you like Japanese food and you have something to celebrate? Minami is where you go! You have to order the Aburi Oshi Sushi (can't go wrong with the sampler platter) and Sashimi Platter. Finish off your dinner with a delicious dessert and of course a nice cocktail (if you are over 19).

Kishimoto

2054 Commercial Dr, Vancouver, British Columbia

Kishimoto on Commercial Dr is THE sushi place in East Van. Definitely a go-to place if you are craving good quality, fresh seafood in the $/$$ range. Our personal highlights include the Toro Tataki, Hamachili Roll, Saba Shiso Ume Roll, and the Agedashi Mochi (not tofu- MOCHI!). Also worth noting, they have Okonomiyaki on their menu which is fairly rare so definitely add that to your order.

Miku

70-200 Granville St Corner of Canada Place and Howe St, Vancouver, British Columbia

Owned by the same group as Minami, this is another great place to go to when you are feeling fancy. Stunning views of the harbor, and overall a very pleasant atmosphere. As for the menu, the sushi selection is similar to Minami so we, of course, have to recommend the Aburi Oshi Sushi. If it's your first time, go for the Sushi Plate to try a bit of everything!

Tetsu Sushi Bar

775 Denman St, Vancouver, British Columbia

Another one of the if you know, you know hidden gems in Vancouver. This West End joint is pretty tiny so if you plan on dining-in, definitely make a reservation! One of the great things about this place is that you can make it very casual by ordering a few rolls and some appetizers or go all out with their 4-course Omakase (chef's selection) menu!

Tojo’s

1133 Broadway W, Vancouver, British Columbia

Tojo's has been around for over 30 years and can't be looked over when listing the best sushi spots in the city. This institution is definitely on the pricier side but it's a must-try for any and all sushi lovers. Their Seasonal Omakase is always a good choice as it's, well, seasonal and the freshest. They do have great happy hour deals but keep in mind that you must make a reservation for dine-in.

Masayoshi

4376 Fraser St, Vancouver, British Columbia

Masayoshi is a very unique restaurant - they currently do two seatings per day, you must have a reservation and it's Omakase only! It's a very pocket-sized place so you can watch your sushi be prepared right in front of you. It's also considered one of the best restaurants in Canada so if you love sushi, you gotta visit Masayoshi!

Kamei Baru

990 Smithe St, Vancouver, BC V6Z 0A4

A fusion seafood restaurant in the heart of Downtown, you can't go wrong with this spot. They've got all the sushi you want and much more - like okonomiyaki, udon, hot pot, and so so many appetizers. We love their assorted combos and sets, like the Vancouver Sashimi and Chef's Aburi.
